Website Tools

WPX Hosting

I host my website on WPX because of how fast and reliable their servers are. Having 24/7 support gives me a lot of peace of mind. I also love the built-in content delivery network (CDN). It helps my website and images load faster!

WordPress

WordPress is free, easy to set up, and offers many features and plugins that keep your content in your hands and allows your website to grow with you.

Kadence Theme

I like the ease of use, features, load time, and rock solid support of the Kadence theme. They push out updates with new features all the time, and you can find all the answers you need in their user forums.

Remote Work Favorites

Blue Yeti Snowball Microphone

This is a great microphone for clear audio with minimal background noise. I use it for conference calls and for recording voiceovers for our YouTube videos.

Brain.fm

This is a service that provides science-backed music that helps your brain sleep, focus, or work. I turn it on in the background frequently when I’m writing and painting.

Doxie Go Portable Document Scanner

I’m hell-bent on having a paperless office, and this small scanner is nice to have on hand for quickly digitizing documents.

Writing & Blogging Resources

Skillshare

I love learning new things about writing and blogging on Skillshare. They offer classes in a variety of lengths, from 15 minutes to several hours. I like the project-based format, so you can apply what you learn immediately. And there’s one flat yearly or monthly fee for access to the entire library of courses.

The Charmed Studio

Thea Fiore-Bloom is a journalist and artist, and through her website The Charmed Studio, she provides writing coaching for artists. I had a coaching session with her, and not only did she help me get clear on the purpose of my site, but she was easy to talk to as well. She also has a wonderful podcast, and ever since I found it, I never miss an episode.

ProWritingAid

I’m a fan of this grammar and spelling checker, and I’ve found it so helpful I canceled my Grammarly premium account.

Meat & Hair Creative Writing Newsletter

I’ve been following Ash Ambirge of The Middle Finger Project for years, and she never fails to teach me something or make me think in different ways. Her latest project is Meat & Hair, a creative writing company with a daily newsletter packed with witty writing examples to help you write more creatively.

Hemingway App

This free app analyzes your writing for hard-to-read sentences, passive voice, and more. I run everything through it before sending or publishing, from blog posts to emails to website copy. I have a tendency to write long sentences, and I so appreciate having this editor in my corner to keep me in check!
